Weather: Temperatures have been in the 70's in the morning and rising to over 100 in the afternoon. Please bring plenty of water!

Stop by the Marina and tell us about your fish!

Bass: DVL bass could not be more aggressive - they are ready to attack just about anything plastic. Most bass have been holding between 10-25 feet and biting on a variety of baits. The drop shot was the method of the week with oxblood and morning dawn being the colors of choice. Texas rigged brushogs or lizards in watermelon colors, fat Ikas in a host of colors, and Senkos have all done well.

Trout: The DVL trout still refuse to surrender to anglers who have been struggling for limits of five fish.. Boaters have had their best luck trolling nightcrawlers, Rapalas, Excel lures, or Needlefish 40 -60 feet down. The entire west half of the lake from restroom 3, the west dam, and the saddle have been holding rainbows. Nick Ross of Menifee got his biggest trout at 3.31 pounds fishing with Powerbait near the saddle dam. Tom Szczeblowski of Yorba Linda got a 5.85 pound trout fishing with a nightrawler at 40 feet on the west dam.

Striper: There were no striper reports this week Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper.

Catfish:Catfish continue to chew at DVL. Great spots for catfish are the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the east dam or wave attenuator. The most effective baits included anchovies, mackerel, and shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 10-20 feet down.

Panfish: There were few panfish reports this week, but most anglers have the best luck fishing along the dams, specifically near the stairways. Anglers have found that fishing 20 -30 feet off the dams using live worm dropped to 25 feet has been a consistent method.

Lake Records:
Lake Record Striper November 11, 2005: Art Berry of Hemet; 29.77 lb. striper caught at East Dam using swimbait.

Lake Record Largemouth Bass March 16th 2007: DVL would like to congratulate Mike Long of Poway who became the new Largemouth bass record holder this week with a 16.43 pound bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.

Lake Record Crappie: 3.0 pounds landed by Keith Thomas. He was fishing with shad.

Lake Record Blue Gill: John Arganda, of Menifee, broke the lake pan fish record by bringing in a 3.06 pound blue gill. He got it on a night crawler fishing near the saddle dam.
