Weather:??Temperatures have been in the 40's in the morning and rising to the high 60's in the afternoon. There were some stormy conditions this week resulting in scattered rains and high winds.

Stop by the Marina and tell us about your fish!

Bass: The return of stormy weather stifled a bass bite that was bourgeoning early this week. Those anglers that braved the wind and rain reported little or no action. Slow fishing the drop shot or jigging 30-40 feet down was highly effective during good weather, but enticed few fish later in the week. Spinner and buzzbaits were mildly effective in the wind. The Anglers Choice tournament that opened the week revealed the potential of DVL bass fishing with half the teams topping twenty pounds. John Fuqua and Ryan Young got the winning bag totaling 25.57 pounds. Kyle Grover and Brian Linehan pulled in a close second with a 25.11 pound limit. Pat Keniry and David Avina managed a 23.92 pound limit for third.

Trout: ??Bad weather slowed anglers but not the trout bite.??The best trout spots have been near the marina and along the shoreline fishing area, but there were scattered reports of fish being caught on the east dam, the west dam, and on the north shore. Most reports have trout between 10-25 feet, but boaters reported fish as deep as 40 feet.??Powerbait in green or rainbow was a mainstay for trout anglers. Inflated night crawlers fished off the bottom with the addition of scents or Power Eggs was also a deadly method trout fishing. Boaters have been increasingly catching trout on the troll. Surface trolling jointed Rapalas or worms combined with flashers was a common occurrence this week. Ed Martinez of Fontana got a 5.52 pound trout fishing in the third cove of shoreline with a jig. Scott Minesinger of Nuevo fished twice this week each time limiting on hearty rainbows while trolling a worm on the east side of the lake. Chris Popoff of Temecula got his two biggest trout at 5.9 and 6.3 pounds fishing from the shore with Lip Ripperz jigs. Shore angler Ray Lominario of Fontana got the biggest trout of the week weighing 7.23 pounds. The lunker fell for a nymph fished at 20 feet.

Striper: The DVL striper bite has run it's course, but there has been occasional reports. Shore anglers have been able to nail the linesides, but mostly just within the first hour of the morning. Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper. Fishing points near the marina or on the inlet remain proven spots for boaters.

Catfish: Great spots for catfish are the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the east dam or wave attenuator. The most effective baits included anchovies, mackerel, and raw shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 25 - 50 feet.

Panfish: There were no panfish reports this week, but most anglers have the best luck fishing along the dams, specifically near the stairways. Anglers have found that fishing 20 -30 feet off the dams using live worm dropped to 25 feet has been a consistent method.

Lake Records:
Lake Record Striper November 11, 2005: Art Berry of Hemet; 29.77 lb. striper caught at East Dam using swimbait.
