Fish Plants: The next trout plant will be on February 28th.

Lake Hours: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Weather:??Temperatures have been in the 40's in the morning and rising to the high 60's in the afternoon. There were some high winds this week, usually blowing after 2:00pm.

Stop by the Marina and tell us about your fish!

Bass: Bass Anglers have been hoping for the big change. Bass have been refusing to move to the shallows due to the surface temps inability to break 60 degrees. That is not to say that anglers have not had success. Slow fishing the drop shot or jigging 30-40 feet down has brought anglers what they need to pull the twenty-plus pound limits it takes to get top stick in the tournaments. There has been a deluge of reports of bass being caught on the troll. Pulling crank baits on lead core between 6 and 8 colors has been a proven method. Shawn Cooley got a 6.42 pound bass fishing the west dam with a Cool Jig.?? Rick Nissen of Hemet got the biggest bass of the week at 8 pounds. He got the lunker trolling a needle fish at 40 feet on the south shore.

??

Trout: Boaters as well as shore anglers have been taking advantage of the incredible DVL trout bite.??The best trout spots have been near the marina and along the shoreline fishing area, but there have been scattered reports of fish being caught on the east dam, the west dam, and on the north shore. Most reports have trout between 10-25 feet, but boaters have reported fish as deep as 40 feet.??Powerbait in green or rainbow has been a mainstay for trout anglers. Inflated night crawlers fished off the bottom with the addition of scents or Power Eggs was also a deadly method trout fishing from shore with the combo of rainbow Powerbait and an inflated nightcrawler. ??Jill Prentice of Covina got a 4.37 pound holdover trout fishing from shore with nightcrawlers. Five year old Steven Rodriguez of Perris got an 8.06 pound trout fishing in the marina with a nightcrawler. Jim Mehan of Winchester got an 18 pound stringer fishing with night crawlers on the shore.

Striper: the DVL striper bite has run it's course, but there has been occasional reports. Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper. Fishing points near the marina or on the inlet remain proven spots for boaters. Lee Gonzales of Hemet got the only striper this week at 15.16 pounds. He was fishing from shore with a trout swimbait.

Catfish: Great spots for catfish are the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the east dam or wave attenuator. The most effective baits included anchovies, mackerel, and raw shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 25 - 50 feet.

Panfish: There were no panfish reports this week, but most anglers have the best luck fishing along the dams, specifically near the stairways. Anglers have found that fishing 20 -30 feet off the dams using live worm dropped to 25 feet has been a consistent method. ??

??

Congratulations to Mike Wooten of Hemet who got his first double digit fish at DVL! He was drop shotting an Aarons Magic plastic at the mouth of Rawson cove when he hooked into a 12.48 pound carp.
