The catfish bite continues to get better as a few 7-8 pounders were brought in over the weekend with the use of cut mackerel and chicken liver. At a 2lb average, these kitties are being caught all over the lake. Fishing within 20-30ft of the shoreline with a good stink bait is almost a guaranteed hook up. The bass have been fairly active as well, primarily in the mornings due to heavy winds in the afternoon. Expect to hook up on a few more smallmouth than largemouth right now. Nightcrawlers, rattle traps, and deep cranks are still getting hit left and right. Local angler, Nick Giese, had a 20+ fish day this weekend consisting of nice smallies and catfish caught by Johnson Bay and outside the marina area.

Additionally, some decent sized crappie were pulled in around Santa Cruz point...... Read More

Most were caught off the rock walls on the main lake as the launch point and east end of Cachuma point proved to be hot spots. Spinners, shad baits, purple plastics, and even poppers in the early morning all worked well this week. A few...... Read More
