Orange County fire officials are set to re-open Santiago Canyon Road this afternoon [Friday October 26]. Accordingly, Irvine Lake will re-open for fishing at 6:00 AM Saturday morning October 27.
No fire damage was suffered by Irvine Lake facilities, and all wind-associated damage has been handled by Lake Staff. Some phone service interruptions may still be seen.
No trout planting was possible this week, but only 2 1/2 actual days of trout fishing took place prior to the fire closures, so the majority of the 20,000 pounds of trout planted for opening day remain in the lake. The normal weekly planting schedule and 5,000 pound allocation will resume next week.
