The lake will be stocked with 2,000lbs of rainbow trout on Wednesday February 12th

Trout fishing continues to be excellent. Easy 5 fish limits for most fishermen. Lots of trout are being caught off the shoreline, on boats and via float tubes. Fish have spread out and are being caught in deep water by the dam all the way to the creek inlet. Hot spots for boats and float tubers have been in front of the concession building by the bubble holes in deeper water and in the flats. Hot baits have been chartreuse and rainbow colored Power Bait, inflated night crawlers, Trout King mice tails, trout tails, and jigs all producing fish. Shore fishermen having been pulling limits out of zone 1 and zone 2. Trolling crank baits have also been producing fish. A massive hatch this past weekend triggered a 'wide open' zebra midge bite. Fly fisherman reported catch and releasing 20-40 trout per day in the flats. Trout are hitting size #16 zebra midges 6" off the bottom. Trout are averaging 2lbs in size with many 'trophy' rainbows being caught and released by float tube / fly fishermen.

Big trout of the week was caught and released by Mitch Collins of San Diego with a 12lb 05oz that hit a Trout King mouse tail in orange/chartreuse in the flats via float tube. Jason Kinner of Newport Beach weighed in a 11lb tail walker that was caught on an inflated night crawler in deep water by the bubble hole closest to the dam. Jairo Aguilera of Fullerton topped off his 5 fish limit with a 9lb 11oz rainbow caught on chartreuse Power Bait at the bubble holes in a boat. Jared Lopez of Garden Grove landed a 7lb 10oz trout soaking chartreuse Power Bait off the shoreline in zone 2. Sean Gallon of Laguna Niguel was working a drop shot Trout King trout worm at the launch ramp and landed a 7lb tail walker. 12 trophy trout in the 5lb to 6lb class were also weighed in at the scales last week.

BASS: A good showing on largemouth bass this past week. Many fishermen soaking night crawlers have been hooking up to bass in the 2lb to 4lb range. Bass have been reported by fishermen throwing trout pattern crank baits in the flats. Even the fly fishermen have reported bass hitting their bead head midges!
