The lake has been stocked with 14,000lbs of Nebraska 'Tailwalkers' in the first 7 weeks! 2,000lbs of rainbow trout up to 14lbs in size were stocked on Friday January 3rd.
The lake will be stocked with 3,000lbs of rainbow trout on Wednesday January 8th.
Trout fishing has been awesome! Most fishermen catching 5 fish limits off the shoreline, on boats and via float tubes. Fish have spread out and are being caught in deep water by the dam all the way to the creek inlet. Hot spots have been in front of the concession building by the bubble holes and in the flats. Power Bait, night crawlers, mice tails, trout jigs and trout tails all producing fish. Crank baits and kastmasters also producing fish. Fly fisherman continue to average 20-30 fish a day using bead head midges and red copper johns in the same areas.
Big trout of the week was caught by Lance Davis of Los Angeles with an 11lb tailwalker that hit salmon red power bait in zone 3 off the shoreline. Mario Leone of Santa Ana weighed in a 9lb trout soaking purple power bait in zone 3 off the shoreline. Ron Kuwahara of Lodi weighed in a 8lb 07oz trout on a night crawler off the shoreline in zone 3. Kim Koreyasu of Torrence caught a 7lb 10oz trout on a night crawler dipped in bite on garlic in zone 1. JT Lybrand of Ladera Ranch weighed in a 7lb 09oz trout twitching a pink/white trout king worm on a boat by the bubble holes. 12 trout in the 5lb to 7lb class were also weighed in at the scales last week.
BASS: Bass in the 2lb to 4lb class have been reported by fishermen throwing trout pattern crank baits in the flats. Even the fly fishermen have reported bass hitting their bead head midges!
Channel Catfish: No catfish reported last week.
