HESPERIA LAKE: Excellent catfish action, with 1,000 pounds of two to four pounders stocked Monday and 1,000 pounds in the 4 to 22 pound class stocked on Friday. Best action has been on a Carolina rig with the M&M combo (marshmallow-meal worm), mackerel, or shrimp doused with garlic scent. Action has been good all around the lake with the larger fish coming from the north shore and grassy bank areas.

Cooler temperatures have allowed fishing throughout the day with best times being early morning or late evening. Several 10 pounders brought in this week caught by Adam Lexington of Ontario off the north shore with Blue Cheese and Ben Fernandez of San Bernardino hooking up from the finger using garlic nightcrawlers. Louis Para of Ontario took home a 6 and a4 pounder from the northshore on nighcrawlers for a 10 pound stringer. Richard Barragan from Riverside had an 18 pound stringer using a marshmallow/nightcrawler combo.

Double stocking coming the week before Labor Day, Lake will open at 1:00 p.m. on Friday the 30th. The lake is open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the day session and 1:00 to 10:00 p.m. for the night fishing. No state fishing license is required here. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.
