Stripers and Largemouth are on the bite at Castaic Lake

The Striper bite continues to be in full force at Castaic Lake. Anglers are doing best with Sardines and Anchovies. The best spots of fish for the Stripers are the Buoy line and by Kong Island.

Largemouth are also on the bite. Best locations for the Largies are Sharon's Rest and old SS. The Bass are biting either plastics or nightcrawlers. Finally, Catfish have been hitting mackerel around 100' deep at the edge of Utopia Cove.

This week was not a slow one by any standard at Castaic Lake. Striper boils are getting more and more frequent. Flukes, spooks and cut baits are the hot baits to use. The buoy line is the place to be between 5:45 & 8:00 AM for the morning bite. The Largemouth have been biting on nightcrawlers and roboworms. The Largemouth at Castaic Lake were on the bite on both the upper & lower lakes. Hot spots were Firebreak, Pete's Point and S.S. Ski. The bait of choice proved to be nightcrawlers and roboworms. The catfish bite is doing well with most of the action coming at Elizabeth Canyon and Utopia. Mackerel is the bait of choice for the Kitties.
