The Bass bite has been on in the early morning and late afternoon hours. Topwater baits such as Buzzbait, Poppers and Spooks have worked well. Later in the day jigs, drop shots and texas rigs have produced.

The warmer water temperatures have caused the trout to locate at 40' to 50' in the main lake water channel. Dodger/Crawler and Dodger/Needlefish combos have been effective for some nice hold-over fish.

Catfish action has been good at Arrowhead Island, the narrows and Cachuma Bay. Cut mackerel was the bait of choice for Kitties to 8 lbs. A handful of Crappie, Bluegill and Redear were also reported. Most of the panfish were incidental catches. Bowfishing for Carp was excellent early in the week, but the Carp bite seems to have taken a temporary nose dive.

Both largemouth and smallmouth bass bit well last week at Cachuma Lake on top waters as well as shallow cranks and most shad imitations. Trout turned on a bit as well and leadcore fished at 5 or 6 colors with Rapalas seemed most productive. Although drifting 'crawlers by the dam accounted for some nice hold-over fish. The Catfish bite seems to be coming on with cut mackerel and packaged dough baits in the back of coves. Crappie were hitting mini jigs and mealworms...... Read More

Catfish action is heating up and there has been some nice stringers of whiskerfish coming out of the Narrows,...... Read More
