Surface action heating up! Calico bass were biting both the bait and rubber..  some anglers caught a limit, others didnt, and many fish released at the side of the boat.. but overall a good bite for this time of year. All the fish were nice sized, in fact we only had 1 short. Not all anglers kept the calicos (which is ok with us) but several did keep some for dinner. Besides the bass there was a bunch of barracuda following the lures.. some hooked and landed, lost or short bites. Inncidental shallow water rockfish catches were also common fishing the kelp. The weather was OUTSTANDING.. hot hot hot, bring the shorts and JUG of sun block!

SUGGESTED TACKLE: ROD#1 med-lite spinning or conventional bait casting 10-15lb line. ROD#2 medium action conventional 20-30lb line. ROD#3 med-heavy conventional 30-40lb line (or 50-80lb braided line).

SUGGESTED TERMINAL TACKLE: 1/8 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz egg sinkers. 4 oz, 8oz, 12 oz torpedo sinkers. #4, #1 "J" hooks and 3/0, 4/0 "circle" hooks. 3-5 in "paddle tale" plastics like big hammer or fish trap brands. Surface iron like tady 45, salas baby 5X or salas 7X Jr.
