Bass are on the surface to 25 feet of water. Anglers reported some quality bed fish this week. Jigs and senkos are working. Dropshotting colored plastic worms such as, morning dawn and martens madness, have also been effective. The ABA Tournament on Saturday had a winning bag of 30 lbs!!!! Bob Carlson of Nuevo caught and released a 10.35 pound largemouth on a senko. Andy Tassone and son of Hemet caught and released an 8 pound largemouth on a senko.
STRIPER Striper fishing has been fair to good. Some anglers reported limits of 3-5 lb stripers using cut bait. Trout pattern swimbaits work well after the trout plants. The Shiley Family and John Long of Murrieta caught 9 stripers all between 3 and 5 pounds. All fish were caught on sardines.
PANFISH Consistent, warm weather will bring panfish up. Nightcrawlers work well for bluegill, crappie, and redear. Mike Posner of Chino Hills (below) caught a 1.5 and 2 pound redear using nightcrawlers.
TROUT The next Mt. Lassen trout plant is on Tuesday, April 10. There are some trout still swimming along the shore. Powerbait, power worms, mini jigs, and nightcrawlers work well for trout.
CATFISH Few catfish have been reported since the record 56.8 pounder caught in the beginning of the month. Nightcrawlers and shrimp are effective for catfish.
