The kitties are in the backs of shallow coves such as Cachuma Bay, Harveys Bay and Johnsons Bay. Fly-lined mackerel, chicken livers, and doughbaits, fished in as little as 3 ft. has been very productive.
Bass fishing was steady last week, and some double digit numbers can be had. Both smallies and largies have been holding in 15 to 20 ft. of water on most lake points. Crankbaits, blades and plastics have been the top bait choices for both species. Crappie anglers reported good action on mini jigs either cast or drifted in the narrows, and around Arrowhead Island.
Trout fishing perked up a little this last week, and drifting crawlers, as well as trolling leadcore 6 to 9 colors is the best way to get rainbows in the boat.
Bluegill can still be had around any strand of tules, meal worms and red worms are the best bait for the panfish. Bow fishing for Carp has been slow, and the same goes for Redear.
