Trolling for trout had been decent, and with the warm weather the rainbows have gone down to about 35 feet. Dodger/crawler combos out to 4 to 6 colors was the hot ticket, and fish to 4 lbs. were reported. The dam and in front of Harveys were the most productive areas.
Both largemouth and smallmouth bass were active last week, and jerk baits, creature baits, top waters, and blades all produced. Jack rabbit flats, Johnsons Bay, and the narrows all held fish.
Crappie also bit well and mini jigs, meal worms, and red worms were the top baits. The best locations were Cachuma Bay and the narrows.
Catfish to 5 lbs. are biting in just about every shallow cove in the lake, mackerel and packaged dough baits worked the best.
Bow fishing for carp has slowed a bit, but double-digit numbers can be had with a little extra time on the water. Red ear were also in the mix last week, but as usual the baits and locations were kept under wraps.

Although trolling three to five colors of leadcore with dodger/crawler combos is still working for some. Bass bite has improved and largemouth are taking a variety of baits, from jigs to senkos and blades. Fish are still in the first ten feet of the water column. Crappie are in the narrows, and trolling small roostertails helps to...... Read More
