Has the fishing begun to pick up at Lake Skinner, or is it another one of those up and down weeks?

The lake has begun to drop once again, plus the weeds and moss are beginning to grow as they do every summer. The wind this past week and weekend kept most of the fishing down next to nothing for most of the week. The news is that the bass and bluegill are hitting perhaps the best, followed by the catfish and then the striper.

Bass are hitting the best along the South Shore early in the morning, most off of worms and dark plastics. The bluegill are hitting along the same stretch plus the East End mostly off of worms floated off the bottom in the coves.

Catfish seem to like mackerel or baits dipped with Hog Wild along the South Shore, and a few coming in near Ramp # 2 as well.

Striper are kind of hit and miss right now, most of them are coming deep off the troll near the dam/inlet and the channels heading back into the arms of the lake, those bait fishing for the striper are having the best luck off of chicken liver.

Remember that the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival will be taking place June 3rd, 4th & 5th, the lake will be closed for fishing during that event.

Good Luck Fishing and Happy Tails.
