Heavy storms have made for a lack of fishermen but have gone a long way to filling the lake. Trolling lead core at 2 to 3 to 3 colors with needle fish and dodger and crawler combos have been producing in Cachuma Bay, the dam area and in front of Harveys.
Bank anglers found fish in the piers at Harveys and at Mohawk. With inflated worms and powerbait being the baits of choice. Another trout plant from Calaveras is slated for April 7th, 2 days before the annual trout derby.
Bass fishing took a dive but with warm weather in the forecast it should start to go off any time. Crappie, catfish and red ear were no shows. Bow fishing for carp was slowed as well due to poor visibility but once the water clears it should be very good action.
