Fishing this week started out great then slowed down on Saturday. (Couldn`t maybe have had something to do with all the bazillions of people in town for Mule Days over Memorial Weekend and we think half of them were up at the lake.) We heard rumors of 80,000 people in town for the weekend.
Memorial Weekend is the kick-off to our summer hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm. The cafe will be serving Breakfast from 7:00am to 11:00am and Lunch from 11:00am to 4:00pm everyday at least through Labor Day.
Once again, fishing the inlets with eggs or PowerBait produced a lot of fish for the many anglers on the lake (and believe me, there were plenty of people on the lake and in the caf?? and on the shore and in the parking lot and on the deck and on the dam and . . . . . there were just people everywhere).
Those fishing from shore were seen using a bobber and a worm and many ended up at the cleaning table with limits. Again trolling something with a bit of red on the lure brought a some action to those cruising the water. Examples of the lure - Super Duper with the red tip, Mepps. Panther Martin, and the Red and Gold Thomas Buoyant (they now have the Red and Gold Thomas Buoyant with a red treble hook).
And now for the BIG fish, Colton Fiscus (13 years old) of Angles Camp caught a nice 3-1/2 pounder on a worm, while Tracy Redding of Riverside won the biggest fish landed in his family bringing in a 5-1/4 Alper on PowerBait. Float tuber Cathy McClain Phillips of Granada Hills had a bit of a thrill ride landing a 4-1/4 Alper on a Lip Ripper.
The weather at the lake was absolutely spectacular. T he temperatures have been in the low 70s and in mid 40`s for the low. Not sure what the weather is expected to be for next week, we haven`t had time to listen to the weather forecast. You can check out the weather at www.MammothWeather.com. The skeeters are out with a vengeance and they are HUGE. Don`t forget the bug juice! ! !,br>
We had a black lab that got out of the owner`s truck on Thursday, May 17th. It was picked up by a father and son who were in a gray - gold - taupe Chevy Z71 extended cab. Please give us a call if you happened to have picked up the dog. The owner extended his trip, stopped by the lake 3 mornings hoping the people who picked up his dog had come back to see if anyone had lost a dog.
Remember your polarizers, sunscreen, bug juice and PONCHO along with a few layers of clothes - just in case..
