Once again the again promise of rain kept most of the anglers away this past week, but the fishermen who had plenty of shore space catching fish did not seem to mind the lack of other fishermen. Trout were stocked this past week and the trout bite is once again at Lake Skinner. Ramp#2 remains the hot spot for trout but many boat fishermen are reporting seeing trout rounding Social Security Point and reports still coming in of some trout action back up in the East End. Powerbait and blow-up worms are the top baits, however crappie jigs, rooster tails and kastmasters were also reported to produce fish rather well. Striper fishing is continuing to improve, and the 20 pounder that was landed this past Sunday proves it. The big striper are near Ramp#2 and they are looking for trout as trout colored swimbaits and large top water plugs seem to be doing well. Striper are reported to be boiling. East End is still doing well for striper as well, however silver and white seem to be the best color back up in the East End. Bait fishing for the striper are producing fair numbers of smaller striper using shad, anchovies and chicken liver near the inlet as well as the East End Channel and near Ramp#2 as well. Some bass still hitting plastics fished slow and steady off the points in the East End and along the South Shore. Some cats and bluegill also reported, but not enough to gage much info on. Happy fishing and Happy Tails.

Rate the action based over the past week:
Bass --> Good --> Average Size: 3 lbs.
Bluegill --> Fair --> Average Size:  ? - 3/4 lbs.
Carp --> Poor
Catfish --> Poor
Crappie --> Poor
Sriper --> Poor
Trout --> Fair --> Average Size: 2 lbs.

Trout are atill hitting powerbait and blown-up worms and reports have them already heading back into the East End as well as still remaining in the Ramp #2. Other good news is that striper fishing continues to improve as more reports of...... Read More

It is a shame that the weather was not better this past weekend as the week leading up to it showed several signs of good fishing. We got another stock of trout and that shoud do nothing more than increase the trout bite and will hopefully continue to make the striper more active. Trout fishing has been good with many people reporting limits. Blown-up worms and Powerbait has been the best baits while some fishermen have reported...... Read More
