Trout fishing excellent with fish being caught all over the lake. A plant on the 5th improved the already good trout bile. Trolling accounting for most of the 'bows, but bank anglers reported good action as well. Bass fishing has been on a day to day basis. Both large mouth and small mouth bass taking spoons, crank baits. Small plastics rigged either drop shot or split shot also working. Catfish slowing down with only a handful reported this week. Blue gill and Crappie slow but one angler reported 20 red ear fishing in an unknown location. There were no carp reported this week. Water temperature is 65.5.

Cachuma LakeTrout fishing excellent with limits the rule. Flat-lining needle fish and kastmasters the top producers. Best areas are at the dam and in front of the marina. Both large mouth and small mouth bass taking spoons and cranks in 15' to 25' of water. Catfish still providing good action with mackerel and doughbaits fished in the backs of coves is the best bet. Cachuma LakeTrout fishing is definitely on the up-swing, with yet another 4000 lbs. plant on Oct.14. Fish are being caught all over the lake, and trolling 3 to 8 colors, drifting crawlers or bait from shore have all been producing 'bows to 2 lbs. the bass bite has been sporadic, but still good numbers of both small mouth and large mouth are taking a variety of shad baits.
