The Trout bite was up and down no doubt due to a cold spring storm that moved into southern California this week. Anglers worked their tackle and baits to catch good size near two pound trout. Power Bait ( salmon peach, spring green, rainbow, garlic and orange), inflated night crawlers doused with attractant, some jigs and lures (Power Worms, white mini jigs) all caught limits. Best bite was before 10am. Hot spots included the eastern shore of lake 3 from the logs to the northern shore, the western shore of lake 3 from the drain to the bridge and the eastern and northern shores of lake 2. Bass continue to hit senkos and spinner bait from the south eastern shore of lake 2 and the western shore of lake 3 from the pump house to the bridge. Bluegill are still waiting for summer to kick in, but a few limits have been caught on the northern shore of lake 2 on meal worms. Catfish are biting night crawlers, chicken livers, shrimp and mackerel on the eastern and northern shores of lake 2 and the northern and western shore of lake 3.
The Lakes' Hatchery stocks trout every Friday year round. This year the Lakes' hatchery is amping up the weekly trout stockings with bigger fish overall. Hours: Friday through Sunday--7am to 4pm. For more information call (760)240-1107 or go to www.jessranchlakesnews.com
