Limits of trout still showing for anglers at Corona Lake

The trout bite continues to sizzle at Corona Lake with a lot of anglers reporting limits of fish on one of the floating baits in chartreuse and an inflated nightcrawler. The deeper water in the dam area has been the hot spot.??

This week will be the last trout plant of the season, but catfish season will kick off May 24-27 with the first major plants of the season, and the official catfish opener will be May 31-June 3 with a bonus plant of trophy catfish.??

The top trout caught this past week was a 10-pounder caught on Mother's Day by Rene Montez, Bloomington, while fishing chartreuse Nitro Bait. Randy Wade, Norco, landed an eight-pound rainbow on a nightcrawler.

The catfish action is also starting to take off with a lot of two to three-pound catfish.?? Jose Ruiz, Riverside, had a limit of five cats that weighed 12 pounds fishing mackerel in the flooded trees. Catfish anglers will be please to know that the popular 24-hour fishing passes will be offered every Friday and Saturday night beginning this week. These passes have a 15-fish limit and cost $45.

Corona Lake is open seven days a week with fishing allowed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these $20 passes has a five-fish limit.
