BASS
The Bass have moved up tight, but have not been inclined to bite as much as anglers would like. There have been plenty of catches between 2-3 pounds for largemouth and smallmouth alike with a few double digit reports this week. Senkos, drop shot rigged purple plastics, and Carolina rigged brush hogs have worked well. Most bass have been caught within 10 feet of water on the points or along the dams. Shallow water fishing requires light line and flawless presentation to entice the bass. Bill Williams of vista released six, 6 pound largemouth, fishing along the east dam.

TROUT
Trout fishing slowed a bit this week, but there were still some notable catches. Nightcrawlers, mini jigs, and trout worms were the most reported baits. Shore anglers seemed to do better than the boaters. The trout were caught in as little as 3 feet of water so light line is a must.

STRIPER
Striper fishing slowed down this week. Stripers are always on the move, but the most consistent spots have been the inlet tower or the east dam. Anglers have caught striper on swimbaits, either trolling as deep as 50 feet, or throwing into boils. John Ross of Mision Viejo caught a 26 pound striper fishing along the east dam with a Jerry Rago Swimbait.

CATFISH
Not many cats were caught this week. Rawson cove and the inlet were familiar spots to try. Most cut baits, nightcrawlers, or Hog Wild will catch the cats.

PANFISH
The California Department of Fish and Game issued new fishing regulations effective March 1st. The daily bag limit for sunfish is reduced to 25 fish and incorporated into a combined bag limit of 25 sunfish and crappie of all species.
