BASS
DVL bass fishing has yet to ignite, but to anglers delight small males are moving into the shallows revealing that they are at the predawn of the spawn. For most anglers the drop shot was hot. Morning dawn and margarita mutilator were failsafe colors for drop shot lovers. If you're looking for something big you can drag a C rig 40 - 60 feet with a brush hog, reaper, or creature. LA Sliders fished deep were the swim bait of the week accounting for a few heavy hogs. Art Berry and Shane Spencer got top stick in the American Bass Association tournament with a 5 fish weight of 23.13 pounds. Elliott Mark Lewis Jr. of Beaumont caught his biggest bass at 5 pounds fishing from shore with a Huddle Bug.

TROUT
The trout train has been non stop! Shore anglers are bashing the bows, but boaters are missing the mark. The up coming Lassen stock should keep the trout on track. Fishing from the bank with crawlers or floating bait is the best way to hook a stout trout. Panther Martins, mini jigs, and Roostertails are great lures for those 'bows. Jeremy Horn of Temecula caught a 4.88 pound trout fishing with Powerbait.

STRIPER
Mt. Lassen and DFG combined forces late this week to spur the striper into near wide open action. LA sliders, Lunker Punkers, Z Plugs, and Huddlestons are the most reported baits as of late. Don Garcia of Hemet caught a 7.77 pound striper fishing from shore with an LA Slider. Eddie "Fish Taco" Martinez of Fontana caught a 12.7 pound striper fishing near the east dam with an unspecified lure. Steve Ekema caught two stripers at 22.61 and 14.52 pounds fishing with a Zplug.

CATFISH
Few cats were caught this week. Rawson cove and the inlet were familiar spots to try. Most cut baits, nightcrawlers, or Hog Wild will catch the cats.

PANFISH
Panfish has been slow except for those in the know. A few tight lipped folks have caught some crappie where it is along the dams and where it is rocky. Live worms, Crickets or jigs are the best baits.
