While the striper bite was not as bad as last week, striper fishing still is far from on here at Lake Skinner. A few more fish showed up on stringers this past week, but almost all were caught down deep, around 50 feet or more, and anglers who did find them worked them all day just to produce a few fish. Best bet for the average fisherman is to bait fish chicken liver up off the bottom near the dam or inlet. For those more advanced fishermen, you have to find the schools and toss rattle traps or be trolling deep. Still a bit of catfish action in the deep water as well, most are being caught by mistake by striper fishermen. Trout has been and continues to be the main attraction here at the lake. Powerbait and nightcrawler fished near Ramp #2 is your best bet, however some trout and hold over trout are hitting worms in the East End. Few reports of bass and bluegill, but most the action has been on the trout and trying to find the striper.

The following are the fish ratings:

Bass: Fair
Bluegill: Fair
Catfish: Fair
Striper: Fair
Trout: Excellent

Few fishermen reported any linesides this past week, most of those who did report any said they got them off of chicken liver bottom fishing near the dam. The good news is that this is also the best method to catch the catfish this time of the year which some fishermen did get. Trout was the main action this past week, as they were stocked and......
