Yet another week goes by and another monster striper comes out of Lake Skinner. This has been the best lunker striper season at this lake in almost ten years. Several fishermen have reported seen schools of shad running just about everywhere and there are even reports of some boils. Tricky thing has been the time slot for the stiper action. Almost all of the action has been the first 3 to 4 hours that the lake is open. The larger stripers are still hitting large artificial baits near the Inlet andn Ramp #2. Almost all of the striper action has been by boat. After the early morning window is closed, some fishermen have reported luck trolling lures in the main body of the lake. Trout action remains strong as we had a county stock this past week. Best location remains at Ramp #2 with powerbait and blown up night crawlers working the best. Bass action remains strong as well as those fishing for them have had luck with several bass in the 4-5 pound range begin reported. Dark plastics of the points in the East End and South Shore seem to be the most productive; however, some top water action int he morning has been reported. Catfish action cooled a little as the weather continues to chill the water, but the cats are still hitting deep along the South Shore, Dam and the Inlet off of cut mackerel and chicken liver.

These are the following fish ratings:

Bass: Good
Bluegill: Poor
Carp: Poor
Catfish: Fair
Crappie: Poor
Striper: Excellent
Trout: Excellent

Striper have been the main draw here at the lake for the past few weeks, and they continue to be the most active fish on the lake. Morning hours are the best, and the bigger fish are still coming in off of artificial lures and most of that being...... Read More

The big stripers have finally reappeared here at Lake Skinner. This past week we had two striper landed that were 20+ pounds as well as a healthy 18 pounder. All of these big monsters have come off of artificial baits and the morning hours seem to be the hot ticker for these fish. Ramp #2 and the Inlet remain the top spots for the striper, however many fishermen trolling umbrella rigs out in the main body of...... Read More
