The lake held above 90 percent of capacity, and fishing was good. Striped bass anglers told the best stories, with numerous reports of topwater activity as shad moved higher in the water column and the stripers followed. Anglers throwing poppers, walking baits, and soft jerkbaits enjoyed excellent action, with limit-style fishing producing some fish approaching eight pounds. Largemouth and smallmouth bass were also readily available for anglers working drop-shot rigs, shaky heads, and Senkos in 5 to 20 feet of water, while crankbaits and jerkbaits produced on windy days. Catfish anglers found good success using cut sardines and chicken liver.
