Weather: Last week the temps were in the 80's. There have been some mild winds in the afternoon, but winds have not impacted fishing.

Bass: Bass fishing has been improved tremendously this week. DVL has been the place to be for bass fishing with??spawning bass being caught in the backs of coves and along the dams as well as post spawn fish being picked up on the points. Successful anglers seeking bedded fish have been working sandy or gravely areas in the backs of the coves generally in 5- 15 feet of water. The most reported baits for spawning bass have been Senkos, Ikas, or Carolina rigging brush hogs or lizards. Rawson Cove has been the most reported bass cove this week, with the third cove of the shore line fishing area, the north corner of the east dam, the west dam, and around the saddle dam also producing well. Shoreline anglers have had consistent catches, but with less success than the boat anglers. Robert Hagen of Yucaipa, age 9, got a 5 pound bass in the third cove to the right of the marina fishing with a Roboworm. Rachael Hagen age 11 topped her brother with a 6.46 pound bass also fishing in the third cove with a Roboworm. The 100% bass tourney on the 22nd yielded the largest pro bass limit ever recorded at DVL. Team Norlin and Caudle not only took the top spot, but earned DVL bragging rights with a 33.62 pound bag. Their biggest fish weighed 8.87 pounds. They credit all their fish to 12" Uptons Custom worms. Keniry and Avina got second with a 26.01 pounds with third, fourth and fifth not dropping below 25 pounds.

Trout: Trout fishing has been great this week. Shoreline and boat anglers have been getting limits with Kastmasters, Power Bait and Roostertails being the top baits. The marina has been the top spot for stockers. Holdovers have made appearances on the west dam, east dam, and points on the south and north shores. Most holdover trout have been pulled from 10- 25 feet either by trolling spoons or cranks, or drifting night crawlers. Three year old Vanson Jervis of Murrieta got a 1.03 pound trout on a roostertail. Jim Sturgis of Sun City got a 4.5 pound trout tolling in the marina with a trout pattern Rapala. Seven year old Leif Schulte got a 6.68 pound trout fishing with a super fluke at 30 feet on the east dam .Jesse Dinkins got 3 holdover trout at 2.5 pounds trolling a Needlefish the west dam at 30 feet. Ray Peterson of Hemet got a spectacular limit of holdover trout while trolling the east dam and west dams. He was using a trout pattern Rapala. His biggest of the five fish, picked up on the west dam, weighed 5.71 pounds. Marie Lewis of Hemet got a 5.87 pound trout fishing with yellow Powerbait fishing from shore. Brandon Williams of lake Elsinore got a 9.18 pound trout in the second cove of shore line fishing. He was using Powerbait. Jerry Currier of Riverside got a 6.95 pound trout fishing from shore with Powerbait.
