The lake has been steadily rising to 83 percent of its storage capacity, and water temperatures remained in the upper sixties. High winds made for tough conditions lately, but mornings provided a few hours of calm weather for anglers to catch some fish. Large and smallmouth remained steady for anglers using Carolina rigged plastics, drop shot, and Senkos style baits. Brown, green pumpkin and baitfish colors have all been effective bait choices. Bass continued to hold in 5 to 20 feet of water with bluff walls and cobblestoned banks being good places to look for biting bass. Jerkbaits and square billed crankbaits took bass in the mudlines created by high winds. Striped bass took larger topwater after a recent trout plant, but the bait bite remained on the slow side. Trout anglers cleaned up on dough baits, minijigs, and spoons after the recent Kids event in the marina. Catfish picked up cut sardines intended for striped bass throughout the lake.
