Castaic Lake rose to 80 of percent of its capacity, and plenty of debris were swept into the lake during recent storms. Fishing has been fair, but the bite might be turning the corner. Over the last several weeks bass fishing has been tough, but last week anglers reported better numbers and size of large and smallmouth. Carolina rigs, drop shot, and Neds all worked for bites with baitfish, dark green, and brown getting attention from the bass. Striped bass anglers worked magnum swimbaits for a few fish, but that bite has been tough this year. Striped bass also went after cut baits and lures on the troll. Catfish anglers hooked up while soaking chicken liver and dip bait, and trout anglers hauled in good sized rainbows. The stocker trout fell for dough baits, minijigs, Hookup Baits, spoons, and spinners.
