Castaic rose to 78 percent of its capacity, and fishing was fair. The lake was closed most of the week, but we were able to get some information before the storms. Bass anglers worked main lake points cobble stone banks, and bluff walls with finesse baits for fair results. Small 3” plastics in bait fish, green pumpkin, and Ox Blood were the best way to hook up. Striped bass ate cut sardines and lugworms near the inlet buoy line and in Elizabeth Canyon. Trollers fooled fish with umbrella rigs and fly coring techniques. Catfish ate dip bait, cut baits, and chicken liver along the dam. Trout anglers reported some action with Kastmasters and dough baits.
