Castaic Lake rose to 70 percent of capacity, and the lake remains filled with mud and debris. Bass fishing has been fair with darker colored finesse baits working the best for large and smallmouth. There were reports of bass chasing shad colored deep diving crankbaits as well. Striper ate cut baits and lugworms from the shore and in 50 to 90 feet of water for boat anglers. Trolling umbrellas rigs also score bites in deeper water. Catfish took dip bait off the bottom along the dam, and trout bites have been rare. Castaic is expecting another trout plant soon, but we need a decent break in the weather for that to happen.
