Fishing has been tough for most anglers these past couple weeks. Weather had a big part in the slow fishing, and we had a few days with nasty conditions, the county even closed the park for two days because of road closures. The debris is all around the lake now, and winds have been SW lately which has been in our favor. Water levels rose again, bringing with it more debris from the shorelines.
Stripers and catfish are still biting off the bottom, and anglers are mainly using cut bait, night crawlers, or lug worms. Anglers willing to troll around main points using an umbrella rig, spoon, or fly, have been having some luck in about 30-50 feet of water. Most anglers prefer lead-core line while trolling these baits. A fish finder helps a ton right now during this time of the year. A lot of fish are deeper and holding onto structure that we can’t see due to depth and lack of water clarity.
Largemouth are still being caught off nightcrawlers, small jigs, and finesse plastics. Some reaction baits and cranks have also been working. The bass bite has been a grind lately, and anglers are finding that natural and dark colors have been getting the most attention.
The blue gill and crappie are still running deep, and the lower lagoon is a better location to target these species.
The trout bite has slowed down significantly because of the lack of DFG stockings. We have been without a plant for more than a month now. We are hoping to get one soon!
Water Temps 52-54 degrees

The schedule was calling for a stocking, but the truck had showed up and decided to turn around due to debris in the water or the lack of traction from the debris on the launch ramp. The fishing has been on the tough side, and with the lake levels constantly changing it has been a little tough to find a pattern for most fish species. The striper bite...... Read More
Castaic Lake Fishing Report
Castaic LakeThis year has been a tough one where Mother Nature hasn’t been holding back her fury. Winds, bad rains and debris from the past fires have been putting a damper on the fishing lately. You can fish around the marina when the debris gets bad and boat launching has stopped, just try to not cast near it because it is an automatic snag. We had received word about the trout truck coming to the main launch ramp on Friday last...... Read More
