The lake remained at full pool with water temperature near sixty degrees. Pyramid received another plant on the 22nd, and trout anglers reported excellent fishing. The 12” rainbows fell for the usual baits with Powerbait, minijigs, and nightcrawlers doing the best. Kastmasters and Roostertails also fooled plenty of fish. A few big bait anglers made the trip to Pyramid, but most anglers have opted for Castaic instead. Some of the lake regulars reported good striper fishing on magnum topwater baits. Otherwise, striper fishing has been on the slow side for anglers soaking cut baits. Boaters and anglers have been mostly absent from Pyramid lately which has provided an excellent opportunity to get away and enjoy a quiet day of fishing. Bass went for finesse baits in 15 to 30 feet of water on points, bluffs, and over rocky structure. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and C-rigs in Green Pumpkin, Aaron’s Magic, and Ox Blood worked the best. Crankbaits and small swimbaits also fooled large and smallmouth in deeper water. Catfish anglers used chicken liver, cut sardines, and dip bait for plenty of action, and big bluegill have been eating live worms on underwater humps.
