More boils were seen these past few weeks and it had seemed like they were picking back up. Stripers were schooling up and boiling along cliff walls and places to corner the shad. Some largemouth have been reported in the mix of the boils. Most fish have been caught on topwater, reaction baits, and flukes. When the surface action subsides, anglers using umbrella rigs and flies have still been seeing action, just a little deeper. The stripers have also been biting cut bait and anglers have been managing limits throughout the day.
Catfish have also been an accidental bi-catch while soaking cut bait. The largemouth and smallmouth have been biting flukes and reaction baits first thing and later in the afternoon. Finesse style baits have been working best when the conditions get tough and they aren’t chasing bait on the surface, but instead a little deeper. Any shad color worm has been doing the trick. Anglers netting live shad have been easily having 30+ fish days, but you must find the bait first which has been the challenge. Sometimes you just need to be in the right place at the right time, and some days have been easier to find bait than others. T
he bluegill and crappie are still hard to catch and when the water raises and submerges brush piles, the bite will pick up again.
The lower lake has been more productive for these species.
The next trout plant should be sometime around Halloween.

The striper bite has been steady off cut bait bottom fishing. Sardines, anchovies, and lug worms have been working best around 40-60 feet of water. The largemouth bite has been a little tougher lately, but...... Read More
