The lake held at 33 percent of capacity, and water temperatures stayed in the 78 to 82 degree range. Some anglers reported catching more fish than they could count while others struggled for bites. Right after the lake opened successful anglers found large areas of boiling fish and threw weightless flukes, topwater, Kastmasters, and small swimbaits for bites. The key has been to patiently wait for a boil within casting distance and then fire your offering right to the feeding fish. Coves in the fish arm provided plenty of surface activity throughout the week. After the boils die down anglers have been focusing their efforts in 10 to 25 feet of water with drop shot, Ned rigs, and Senkos. Small shad imitation finesse baits seemed to work the best. Striper have also been boiling throughout the lake and they will take the exact same baits as the bass. Otherwise, striper anglers soaked cut baits or trolled flies and umbrella rigs for good numbers. Catfish anglers used dip bait, cut sardines, and garlic scented nightcrawlers for bites.
