WEEK ENDING: 07/25/2022 WATER TEMP:78-83*F
Striper boils are becoming easier to target and much more frequent. A lot of the catches have been on a top water bait or fluke when they are boiling like that. Otherwise, you can use a nightcrawler or sardine and still manage a limit. Most boil fish have been smaller sized stripers while the bait bite has been pulling up some decent quality. You can also troll a fly on lead-core and manage a few. The Largemouth are also starting to boil more and eat a bigger variety of lures. Most boils are in the morning and evening. When they are not on the surface a finesse plastic on the drop-shot has been working. Shad colors and green pumpkins have been the go- to colors lately. The Smallmouth are also starting to make more of an appearance lately. Nightcrawlers have been a good alternative to catch multiple species this past month. The Catfish are still biting with the higher water temperatures helping kick things up. Mackerel, sardines, anchovies, and chicken liver have all been working. The bluegill are starting to make their way up shallow in the sticks and wherever there are submerged trees. Wax worms, meal worms, and small Sierra slammers have been working. The lower lagoon is usually a better spot to catch these species.
