Castaic Lake water levels remained steady with water temps in the mid-fifties. Fishing has been tough due to high winds, but during those short windows with good conditions anglers have been boating fish. Striper were the best bet last week with boat and shore anglers fooling fish while using cut baits, lug worms, trolled Kastmasters, and leadcore techniques. It’s been a few weeks since the last trout plant and the big swimbait bite has been slower as a result. Trout angers picked away at the remaining trout with minijigs, Mousetails, dough baits, and spoons. Bass anglers have been working for bites with the usual finesse baits. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and Carolina rigs all caught fish in 10 to 30 feet of water. Deeper schools of bass were targeted with spoons and ice jigs. Catfish ate chicken liver, dip bait, and cut baits with the dam producing well.
