Catching is getting better and better as are the colors. With the cooler temps (and it's gonna be getting a bit cooler tomorrow) the water seems to be cooling also as the fish are on the rise. There are more and more colors other than green appearing on the slopes of Bishop Creek Canyon. Rick and I took a ride over to South Lake Thursday and their side of the canyon is getting ready to go too.

Fishing the inlets is still on the slow side and don't be fooled by the sucker fish hanging out at the Little George Inlet. If your dead set on fishing the inlets - use PowerBait, NightCrawlers or Jigs. The trollers were pulling flashers and a NightCrawler down deep. Drifting around the rock piles with a NightCrawler or PowerBait is doin' about the best. Shore anglers are using Salmon Eggs, NightCrawlers or PowerBait. There were limits to be had - just ask Dick and Maria Riggs of Northridge who limited out both Saturday and Sunday trolling flashers and a NightCrawler. Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake on Tuesday.

Well the bear returned this past week knocking over the fish bucket at the cleaning station and the trash cans down by the docks. Heard a rumor of fishermen at the back of the lake who took a picture of 2 bears. We also had a deer in the parking lot one evening. Never know what you might see where in the canyon.

Nimrod took a boat ride with Rick to the mooring bay - upon the return, Nims spied 'land' in the form of a log boom. Rick swung out wide but as he came upon the 2nd log boom, Nims made a jump for it and MISSED! He swam and scampered up on the first log of the boom and ran like there was no tomorrow, he go to the second log and the log started to spin and PLOP went Nims. He tried and tried to get back up on that spinning log, but Rick to the rescue. Rick plucked him out of the lake and held onto him tight - Nims spent the rest of the evening drying out - he's nice and fluffy now.

Got an update on the campground fall closures - the following campgrounds will close September 21st: North Lake, Sabrina Camp, Bishop Park Group, Table Mountain Group, Mountain Glenn, and Willows.

It will sure feel like fall tomorrow with the cooler temps and a chance of rain as in fall thunderstorms. Then warming again toward the end of the week - MOM's still playing her games again. Highs should increase to the low 70s and the lows in the low 40s toward the end of the week. You make also want to take a look at www.weather.gov for the Aspendell area forecast toward the latter part of the week.

A HUGE thank you to Samantha (Juanita's Grand-daughter) who entered over 400 e-mails over the last week to re-construct the database. We hope you are once again getting the report.

* * * NEWS FLASH * * * Verizon has removed the payphone out in front of Lake Sabrina Boat Landing. Cardinal Village will be your closest option as not very many cell phone providers work in the area; Bishop Creek Lodge, Parchers Resort and Creekside RV Park are your other choices.

With the return of warmer weather the skeeters have returned, so remember the bug juice and COMMIT TO MEMORY, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE, WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF!

Also, don't forget your sunscreen and dark glasses, the glare on the water is soooo bright, they just might blind your eyeballs. PONCHOS or COATS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED - YOU NEVER KNOW!

ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! !

You all have a great week and if the stress gets too great, you all know where to come to get some relief! But, remember you don't need to be stressed to come. WE JUST WANT TO SEE YOU SOON!
