The biggest news this week was the lake closure on Friday so they could bluestone the lake. The good news is that in a few weeks shore fishing should become less of a hassle due to weeds. Thursday the lake received a catfish stock. If you are fishing Skinner, you better be going for the cats because they are the dominant fish on the lake right now. East End, Dam, Inlet and even drifting the middle of the lake have been producing good size cats. Shore fishing around Ramp #2 still remains strong as well. The catfish are hitting mackerel the best, but chicken liver is a close second. Not too much to report on the striper, a few are coming in during the morning, but not much. Report of big largemouth bass along the South Shore have been coming in, but they don\'t seem to be too interested in the baits the fishermen are throwing at them. Still some bluegills coming in along the South Shore, but they have slowed from what they were last week. Several reports of line breaks for the catfish fishermen this past week may mean the big cats are on the prowl.

These are the following fish ratings:

Bass: Fair
Bluegill: Good
Carp: Poor
Catfish: Excellent
Crappie: Poor
Striper: Fair
Trout: Poor

Catfish are still your best bet here at Lake Skinner this past week, however the striper made a move towards the end of the week. The cool mornings with overcast skies and lingering fog made for some good striper fishing that burned out with the clouds as the sun broke through. Striper were hitting anchovies and chicken liver near the Dam and the Inlet. Cats were the best bet from shore this past week. Parking has...... Read More
