With all this rain its been tough to get out here with out getting soaked, but fishing has stayed steady throughout the week. Trout fishing has improved with a lot of holdovers being caught down deeper around 40-60 feet. Most bites have been off garlic nightcrawlers or Power-bait. We are expected for another trout plant this week, with reports of Castaic finally put up on the DFG stocking list.
Largemouth and smallmouth bass have been biting a lot better as of late, with a lot of anglers still getting bites anywhere from 20ft. -60ft. of water. Most catches have been off the good old trusted nightcrawler, but plastics on the drop-shot and Ned rig have also been producing for some anglers.
The stripers have been the toughest species to locate recently, with only a couple reports of some smaller sized fish caught on sardines, anchovies, and lug worms.
Catfish have been hitting some of the baits being soaked for stripers. Chicken liver and mackerel can better your odds.
The crappie fishing has slowed down on the upper lake, and most bites have been off wax worms or crappie jigs. The lower lagoon has been producing decently for crappie and bluegill, along with decent bass fishing.
