Trout fishing has been strangely slow the past week even though we had received a stocking on Thursday. Most catches have been off nightcrawlers and Power-bait. A lot of holdovers are being caught with decent size to a few. A couple anglers have been having luck trolling around smaller trout jigs and spoons as well.
Striped bass have still been a tough bite to get on, and a lot of anglers have been marking them down deep in around 100 feet of water. A few reports of some smaller schoolie-sized stripers have been caught off sardines, anchovies, and lug worms.
The largemouth and smallmouth have improved in the past few weeks, but it still has been a grind to get a limit. They are moving up shallower but are still around 15-25 feet of water and sometimes deeper. A lot of bites have been off nightcrawlers or a plastic worm. The drop-shot and Ned rig have been producing the best for most anglers.
The crappie are still biting decently at the lower lagoon and upper lake. Most catches have been off a crappie jig or wax/meal worm.
The bluegill bite still has been tough to locate. Catfish are still making appearances at the end of angler’s lines, usually while soaking a nightcrawler or chunk of cut bait.

Some catches have also come off a Kastmaster or small trout swimbait. The Largemouth and Smallmouth bass have been making appearances in better numbers as of late. Most catches have been...... Fishing Has Been Picking Up
Castaic LakeFishing has been picking up with the warmer afternoons we’ve been having. We still haven’t received our next trout plant but are expecting one very soon, hopefully this week. There are still a good number of anglers reporting trout being caught all around the lake. Mainly on Power-baits and small spoons, but a few have been caught while fishing for bass. The striper have started to show in more numbers as of late, and most bites have been off sardines,...... Read More
