BASS ????????
Early morning fishermen have been landing loads of lunker largemouth. Though the bass quantity has been low the quality has been remarkable. The best largemouth reports have been coming from those fishing the north east portion of the lake with trout swimbaits and large plugs. The Z plug, LA slider, and Lunker Punker have been the most reported lures for bass. Outside the early morning bass have been holding between 30 and 60 feet. Fishing uphill with the Carolina rig or jig with watermelon or green pumpkin creature baits has done well. Ice jigs have also been reported as a great way to entice bass at greater depths.
??
TROUT ??
It was a record breaking week for DVL trout. Though we have yet to see consistent stringers we have seen the bite improving steadily most notably by the double digit trout coming in this week the likes of which we have not seen in over 3 years. Rooster tails, Powerbait, and Kastmasters have been the better baits for trout. Steve Christian of Norco caught a 7.5 and 5.25 pound trout fishing from shore with nightcrawlers. Rick Esparza of Hemet caught a 3.49 pound trout fishing from shore with a nightcrawler. Pete Olver of Perris caught a 6.97 pound trout fishing from shore with green powerbait. Three year old Luis Fernando Garcia of Hemet caught a 12.46 pound trout fishing from shore with powerbait breaking the standing lake record by over a pound. The following day Paul Padilla of San Jacinto became the new record holder with a 12.64 pound trout. He was fishing near the marina with a fluke.

STRIPER
DVL is undoubtedly the best fishery in Socal to catch big stripers. Fishing the marina cove with large plugs or trout swimbaits has caught countless striper between 10 and 20 pounds. The Z plug, LA slider, Triple Trout, and BBZ have been standards for big striper. Chris Nickerson of Hemet got a 11.12 and 16 pound striper fishing from shore with a BBZ swimbait. Alex Lee of Diamond Bar got a 14.45 pound striper fishing in the marina cove with a Lunker Punker. Lee Gonzalez of Hemet got a 13 pound striper fishing from shore with a BBZ. Elliot Lewis of Beaumont got a 14.63 pound striper fishing in the first cove of shoreline with a BBZ. Eddie Martinez got a 17.3 and 10 pound striper fishing with an AC plug. Dusty Parker of Cherry Valley got a 14 pound striper fishing by the east dam with a scrounger. Jazmin Bolduc of Hemet caught a 5 pound striper fishing by the east dam with a Triple Trout.
CATFISH??
There have been scattered reports of catfish being caught on the west dam and near the inlet tower. Cut bait or nightcrawlers are usually effective for catfish.
??
PANFISH
Panfish have been moving away from the banks and becoming harder to find as the water temperature's drop. There have been a few incidental catches this week. Live worms or mini jigs usually are the best baits for panfish. ????????
