Got rockfish limits early and went looking for trouble.
Merit here,
Weather went glassy today. Seeing the Santa Rosa Island 3/4-day zone had current, we started our day where we could make long drifts over expansive areas of rocky bottom. It worked -- steady picking on good grade mixed rockfish, boc, red, huge olives, and such, fewer coppers than usual for the 200-ft depths we fished as we skipped from ridge to ridge.
About noon the current slacked.
So we went to holding on one of the hotter spots and it went to full slaughter. We were done in minutes.
After that we went squid nesting, hoping for a seabass or halibut.
Final count was limits of Rockfish for 23 anglers, 3 lings and a bunch of live squids.
