Anglers are still catching tout as late, but its been getting a little tougher to get your limit. Most catches are coming off garlic powerbaits and garlic scented night crawlers. Green, chartreuse, rainbow and garlic have been working best around 30-40 feet of water. Some anglers have reported guys catching good numbers trolling around flies and swimbaits on lead core line.
The bass bite has been steady with some decent numbers being reported back throughout the day. A lot of fish have been coming off deep rocky point and steep drop offs. The shad aren’t around yet so their haven’t really been any boils. If you’re lucky enough to happen upon a school of bait, angels have reported topwater and a reaction bite. Usually first thing in the morning and later in the evening have been the deal for that. Most boils seen lately have been fish chasing bass fry or silver side.
The striper bite has steadily been improving with more being caught per angler. Sardines, anchovies and lug worms have been working best. The bite has mainly been in deeper water off main points.
Catfish have also been making more of an appearance with chicken liver, mackerel and anchovies being the bait of choice for most. Garlic night crawlers have also managed to nab a few this past weekend as well.
The bluegill and crappie have picked up and pep have been able to snag limits off pieces of nightcrawler and wax/meal worms. Mainly up shallow near bushed and submerges foliage or trees. The lower lake has been producing best for crappie.
