BASS
Bass fishing was slower this week, but it was still better than any Socal fishing hole. Fish between 2 and 3 pounds are still lurking in 15 feet of water with bigger fish near 40 feet. Early morning anglers have reported a reliable topwater bite, but plastics and jigs were the mainstay of the day. You just can't lose by drop shotting small protected points, and brush structure with morning dawn, oxblood, or Margarita mutilator. Carolina rigging 7-10" worms has worked well for steep drop offs. "Blufinhker" had a good day of fishing releasing 12 fish all on the Carolina rig between 30 and 40 feet. 12 year old brody Hoffman of San Diego got a 3 pound bass fishing in 15 feet with a Roboworm.
TROUT
DVL trout make their presence known but refuse to surrender to anglers. Drift fishing with nightcrawlers or trolling Needlefish, Kastmasters, Rapalas, or nightcrawlers behind a dodger or flashers are proven methods. Most catches have been between 25 and 45 feet.
STRIPER
Striper made an appearance this week. Striper bite is the best during low light conditions such as early morning or under cloud cover. Topwater baits such as Spooks, Zplugs, or floating swimbaits are the best choices for striper. Basscaptain got a limit of striper in 20 minutes fishing with jerk and topwater baits.
CATFISH
The catfish turned back on this week. The third cove of shoreline fishing, the wave attenuator and the east dam are the usual hot spots for catfish. Mackerel, shrimp, or anchovies usually do the trick. It is probably no surprise, but Jesse Mena of Hemet caught another catfish over 20 pounds the biggest of the week. He was fishing the south shore with nightcrawlers when he hooked into a 20.42 pound cat.
PANFISH
Blue gill have been plentiful, but crappie and red ear have been hard to come by. The big blues have been biting along the dams 15 ??? 20 feet down on live worms or jigs.

The Diamond Valley Lake Fishing Report
Diamond Valley LakeBASS As DVL approaches its fifth year it continues to exceed anglers expectations. The quantity of bass being caught at DVL is beyond compare. Fish between 15 and 20 feet for small bass or 30 to 40 for the hogs. If you get on the water early topwater will be worth the effort. Drop shotting small protected points, the dams, or submerged humps with morning dawn, oxblood, or Margarita mutilator is the most reliable way to bass fish throughout the...... Read More
