Merit here with a quick report on the action -- Saturday, October 20, 2018
Weather was fantastic out on the Channel once again. We started our day in deep water, but the meter showed fish were hunkered down, not out foraging. There must have been mucky water down there, and you could see the white water on the islands from miles out. It bit just as it looked, but we did lure some fish out on one deeper spot before heading for shallower water and clean bottom. There the white fish went bonkers our first float. The second was solid but just steady, and an anchor job was similar, with many lings too, but mostly short. The gaff grade whitefish came out a bit too. Oh, and barracuda we're thick, along with plenty of macks chowing red 🦀. A last try deep before heading home was pretty dry, just a couple big coppers.
Our final tally for our 25 hard grinding anglers was 216 whitefish, 177 rockfish, 2 sheephead, 13 lings, 7 barracuda, and a cabezon, for a 16 fish per bag average.
We are 3/4 day Monday-Wednesday. Please make reservations from the website or call 805-963-3564.
