Wow, were there a lot of families at the Lake this week all enjoying a plum full lake.  Yup, we started spilling on Wednesday.  With the Lake so full, it’s a bit difficult to find a place to fish from shore, so many opted for the dam or took a walk towards DingleBerry Inlet. Thank goodness the wind wasn’t blowing as hard as last week. Had a bit of cooler weather surprise us a tad – frost on the docks and boat seats, Sunday and Monday – Mom reminding us she’s in charge even on Pops Day.

We got our first load of Idaho Rainbows from Wrights Rainbows out of Thacher, Idaho – a pound to four pounds. This is the first load of three sponsored stockings by Bishop Chamber of Commerce, Parchers and South Lake Resort, Creekside RV Park, Bishop Creek Lodge, Cardinal Village and Lake Sabrina Boat Landing.  We also got a load of fish from the Department of Fish and WildLife. Thank goodness for the stockings as fishing has slowed although we saw quite a few full stringers coming up from the Lake and heard tales of lots of fish caught and released. I know I sound like a broken record, but this is what’s still working - NightCrawler, PowerBait, Mice Tails, Salmon Eggs, Jigs, Thomas Buoyants and Kastmasters were the catching baits and lures of choice.

The Kinzel, Gove, Edgerton and Bridges Families have been fishing Lake Sabrina every year since 1974 – most of the pops have caught a BIG fish, all but Bob, but Friday that changed – Bob Kinzel went old-school – a Dave Davis and NightCrawler and landed a beautiful 3-1/2 pound Rainbow with a little help from his wife, Kathy. It was a Father-Son fishing trip for the Polchow and Samson families. Brady and Nick Polchow and Clark and Carlo Samson used lures and reeled real slow to bring in Friday night’s dinner. And Dad Ray Navar couldn’t have been any more proud of his 5 year old son, Zeke bringing in a 2-1/2pound beaut using Zeke’s Gold, of course.

A BIG thank you to all the CHSRA State Final contestants and their parents. This group of kids are some of the politest well behaved and considerate kids you will ever meet. If you stopped by the Fairgrounds to support them and their families – Thank you!!!

Spoke to the local Department of Fish and WildLife Game Warden regarding fisherpeople needing to have their own stringers and up to five fish per stringer. His response is – “It is highly recommended, but not required, but everyone better be present if I’m checking”.

The White Lilac on the small trail from the building to the launch ramp is in full bloom and smells absolutely heavenly. And we have baby PineCones on the Pine Tree at the start of that trail

A bit of a breeze thru Wednesday with temps going from the upper 60s on Tuesday to the mid 70s thru Sunday. Looks like the lows will be in the 40s thru the weekend.   You can check out the forecast for the week at www.weather.gov (enter Aspendell, CA in the search and scroll down to see the temps).

And the hiking conditions:
Sounds like there is very minimal snow patches on the Sabrina Basin Trail.

PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR ALL CONDITIONS.
