Bass: Anglers continue to enjoy the outstanding bass fishing at DVL.. The east dam, Rawson cove, the south west corner and shallows exhibiting flat rocky spots conducive for spawn have been loaded with 2- 4 pound largemouth. Most reports have fish holding between 5 and 20 feet, the bigger fish being in deeper water. You just cant go wrong with the Drop shot, Carolina or Texas rig all working for largemouth. Purple or green worms from 4-16", Carolina rigged brush hogs, watermelon or green pumpkin Senkos, flukes, and tube jigs were all reported as effective for bass. Swimbaits continue to be highly effective for shore anglers. Marvin freeman of Detroit MI got a 4.5 pound bass fishing with nightcrawlers on the south side of the lake. Victor Henandez of Moreno valley got a 4.06 pound bass fishing from shore with a swimbait.

Trout: Shore fisherman and boaters have been slaying the trout with a variety of methods. Reports have trout ranging from the surface down to 40 feet. The marina, the east dam, restroom 3, restroom 2, and the west dam, have all been holding trout. Shore anglers have been relying on Powerbait, trout worms, mini jigs, and Kastmasters. Boaters found drift fishing with nightcrawlers or trolling jointed Rapala or nightcrawler have been the best way to get trout in the boat. The use of lead core and Down riggers have helped get those deeper running fish. Chris Hagopun got a 4.8 pound trout fishing from shore with nightcrawlers. Mike Southerland of Fontana got a 5.4 pound trout trolling a Kastmaster on the north shore. Chris Kelly of cherry valley got a 5.76 pound trout fishing with nightcrawlers on the west dam.

Striper: There were no striper reports this week Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper. Fishing points near the marina or on the inlet remain proven spots for boaters.

Catfish: There was a solid catfish bite this week. Great spots for catfish are the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the east dam or wave attenuator. The most effective baits included anchovies, mackerel, and raw shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 10-20 feet down. Jesse Dinkins of Hemet got two channels at 9.31 and 6.75 pounds fishing with anchovies near the wave attenuator. Gilbert Villasenor of Homeland got two catfish at 5.74 and 4.26 pounds fishing with anchovies in the second cove of shoreline. Chris Hagopun of Redondo beach got a 7.8 pound catfish fishing with worms in the third cove of shoreline. Vernon Smith Jr. of Moreno valley got a 6.71 pound catfish fishing the east dam with a swimbait.

Panfish: There were few panfish reports this week, but most anglers have the best luck fishing along the dams, specifically near the stairways. Anglers have found that fishing 20 -30 feet off the dams using live worm dropped to 25 feet has been a consistent method.
