Shad have been up in big numbers. Nice crappie have been committing suicide on these
great baits. Bass fishing has been excellent.

Dana Steele of the Ojai has a 10# bass on a plastic worm.
Eric Elshere 10' 4# bass on a plastic worm from the shoreline.
Greg Jheradini of Las Vegas had a 12# 6oz bass on a swim fast.
Don Lucas of Oxnard had a 9 1/4 # bass on a plastic worm.
Mark Torry of Camarillo reported a 8# bass on shad.

Thirty-one days since the closure of Lake Casitas to outside boats ... and counting. Fishing has continued strong in-spite of a plunging stock market and failed mortgage lenders. Mr Bass had no Bear Stearns stock. Fred Long of Simi Valley, CA and Rich May of Thousand Oaks, CA rented a boat and caught 2 limits of bass to 6 pounds and a 3 pound smallmouth. The Silver Lining in our dark cloud of Quaaga Mussel closure has been lowered fishing pressure during the bass spawn. Fishing has been excellent and will be even better next year.Stan Vandeberg drove down from Chatsworth and caught a 8' 2' bas and 15 smaller bass.
