The catfish bite is still going as many limits were reported this week. The most common baits used were nightcrawlers and mackerel in 5 – 10 ft of water. The east end of the lake seems to be holding an abundance of cats at about 1lb average. Trout can still be caught trolling the dam area with lures sinking 7 – 10 ft through many anglers using leadcore line were able to hook them around 40 ft deep. The smallmouth continue to bite well along Jack Rabbit Flats and Cachuma Bay Point Primarily on worms and crank baits in the morning. Bluegill and crappie have picked up over the last week at the mouth of Drake Cove. Most were caught with crappie jigs and mealworms this week but small Kastmasters have also proved to be a good substitute.
